Social Media: The New S.E.O. & GOOGLE's Bull@hit!

Recently I noticed allot of shifting in rankings on all my clients websites, it seems as though that GOOGLE is at it again, the latest updates looks at all your inbound links and makes the decision to make them valid or not! they are now looking for Natural & Un-Natural inbound linking to your website. What this means is that if you purchased links or have links from low quality content GOOGLE will penalize you for that, so if you have 1000 inbound links and 999 are of low quality content guess what? Yes! your ranking will drop, so you are better off getting in-bound links naturally from quality sources.

You cannot build a business on Search Engine Optimization Alone, my advice as a professional online marketing person is to have a strong online presence but don't make it all count on GOOGLE, one change in GOOGLE's Algorithm can devastate your business. Become GOOGLE proof! Start "BRAND BUILDING" with Social Media as well as paying attention to GOOGLE, Yahoo & Bing it is a must. As google keeps making it harder and harder to Optimize your website you have to have a solid business plan that doe not totally rely on GOOGLE but also builds your brand.

How Medical Practices Can Benefit From Online Marketing

How Medical Practices Can Benefit From Online Marketing

I have spent allot of my career around Advertising in NJ a majority of my experience was  mostly in Print Advertising in New Jersey, but since the late part of the 1990′s the Physicians in NJ that are looking at Social Media Marketing & Search Engine Optimization are all struggling to figure out what works and what does not work and they are looking towards their conventional Advertising Agencies to guide them through the online world and I have one thing to say about that THEY ARE DOING IT ALL WRONG! yes that’s right, these agencies are afraid to lose the print portion of the clients advertising budget so they kind of masquerade as an online marketing agency and they try to out source Pay-per click campaigns, website design and so on and eventually the client realizes that their agency they are working with really have no Idea in what they are doing.

But there is hope!  you can have two agencies, one for print and one for the internet I see nothing wrong with that, if you are working with an agency that claims to be an online agency ask them if they handle the following for clients, Search Engine Optimization, in-House web design services, Content Developing & Marketing, Social Media Marketing including and not limited to Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, Pinterest and so on.

As a digital marketing agency we develop strategy, rotate calls to action, build and deploy landing pages based upon your current offers or specials, monitor your Search Engine Website placement on a daily basis with constant metrics, Monitor your Brand Reputation and more….We cultivate online relationships with our social media networks starting from your surrounding community and more.
If you would like to speak with us about what we do and how we do it for our clients. Please give us a call 973-846-0065 for a FREE consultation

Social Media: Facebook, Linkedin, Google+ Do Help Your Search Engine Rankings

Social Media Marketing Increases Your Search Engine Rankings

I have been preaching this to clients for the last year or so, Yes Social Media Interaction does effect your search engine ranking that is why we build fan pages four our clients and we constantly add content and link backs to the main web sites, that is why we build GOOGLE+ buttons, Pinterest accounts with engaging imagery lining back to the main web site. The question to me is why do I need a Facebook page? well there are several reasons:
  1. A Facebook fan page is a secondary landing page w a unique URL that gets indexed
  2. To engage with your sphere of influence and attract more clients on facebook
  3. To help you build your search engine ranking
  4. Give clients & customers a voice
  5. Build you brand and create "mind share"
I know there are a couple of more out there but this should be a very compelling reason to have a Facebook fan page. The next question "why should I have a twitter account"
  1. To build a fan base
  2. To Engage Customers
  3. To Build Inbound Links
  4. To share recent news
Now twitter is a quick blogging platform that has become more important in the world of Search Engine optimization as well, you can now add video & photos as well as quick updates that point back to your conversion pages.

Any way you look at it the more social media interaction that your involved in the better for the brand, good engaging content is always the best and these type of online conversations will boost your rankings in all of the search engines as well.

Independent Physician Marketing: Special Rates For AAPS Memebers.

I attended a workshop today for the AAPS in New Jersey and I must say that I was very impressed by the members and speakers and I never really realized what a physician has to go through in order to practice medicine. I took this from their website this is what their organization is about. If you belong to this organization and you need help marketing your practice please give us a call ay 973-846-0065

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons - AAPS - is a non-partisan professional association of physicians in all types of practices and specialties across the country.
Since 1943, AAPS has been dedicated to the highest ethical standards of the Oath of Hippocrates and to preserving the sanctity of the patient-physician relationship and the practice of private medicine.
Our motto, "omnia pro aegroto" means "all for the patient."

To serve the state?  Or to serve our patients?  That is the question we will increasingly face as government forces its power into every nook and cranny of our professional lives.  I once belonged to all the standard societies—my specialty society, my state and local medical society and—dare I admit this—even the AMA.  But I discovered that none of these societies stood on the principles I hold dear—individual liberty, personal responsibility, limited government, and the ability to freely practice medicine according to time honored Hippocratic principles.

AAPS Fights to Preserve Medical Freedom!

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, AAPS,  has been fighting the good fight to preserve the  practice of private medicine since 1943.  When the Clinton health plan was proposed, we fought for open meetings.  And when the details came to light, the plan was halted.  In the current battle over health care “reform,” the AAPS helped organize numerous physician rallys and has a pending lawsuit suit in the DC Federal District Court challenging the constitutionality of the ObamaCare insurance mandate.

AAPS Stands up for Physicians!

The AAPS legal team defends doctors who have been mugged by Medicare, or railroaded by hospitals using sham peer review.  We sued the Texas Medical Board in defense of physicians’ due process rights; this suit is now on appeal. We drafted legislation for reform of the Texas medical practice act and are fighting for its enactment.

AAPS Helps Physicians Reduce and Eliminate Third Party Interference!

The AAPS seminar, “Thrive Don’t Just Survive,” has reached doctors all over the country who wish to leave the hassles of Medicare and  the interference of managed care and start a cash practice.  We have helped hundreds of doctors opt out of Medicare through information on our website and our limited legal consultation service. We challenged the HIPAA “Privacy Rule,” and got the government to acknowledge the “country doctor exemption” for physicians who do not file claims electronically.
AAPS Keeps You Informed!

Our monthly newsletter, AAPS News is packed with political, legal, and practical information that physicians cannot afford to miss.  Our Journal of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons publishes the controversial issues—often with both sides in a point counterpoint--that you won’t find in most mainstream medical publications.  AAPS email alerts and our website (www.aapsonline.org) will get you the late breaking news as it happens and provide you with urgent political action items to help in the fight to restore medical freedom.

Individually, our members have appeared on Fox News, in the Wall Street Journal, in HumanEvents.com and other blog sites, contributing time, talent, and facts to counter the emotional arguments for socialized medicine.

AAPS speaks for Physicians NOT Corporate or Government Interests!

AAPS is completely funded by membership dues and contributions, so we answer to and advocate for our physician members and not big corporate donors or government funding sources.  The AMA’s deal with HCFA gave it a monopoly on the CPT codes, from which it derives at least $70 million in revenue annually.  AAPS was one of the first to expose this conflict of interest.

All elected AAPS Board members and officers serve on a volunteer basis and even pay their own way to board meetings.  We do not have a big building, or a bloated staff.  Every dime in dues goes directly to the fight for freedom in medicine.

AAPS offers its members discounts on disability and other essential insurance products that are as good or better than the discounts offered by other national medical societies.

Join Your Colleagues to Keep Patient-Centered Medicine Alive!

For almost 70 years, we have consistently stood for ethical patient-centered medicine—the kind only possible in a free market medical system.

So, if you are like me, and you are tired of contributing to organizations which claim to be your advocate, but do little more than lobby for short term payment increases, support politicians who cannot be trusted, and feed their own self preserving coffers by selling you CPT coding manuals, come join us at the AAPS.

Sincerely,

Lee D. Hieb, MD
Orthopaedics and Spinal Surgery, Logan, Iowa
Immediate Past President, Association of American Physician and Surgeons

Growing Your Practice Without Relying on Insurance Company Reimbursements.

Inbound Marketing & SEO for Medical Professional

If you've been in the medical world in the past couple years, you've probably come across the term "Inbound Marketing." It seems to be gaining more and more steam, and people are more interested in what Medical Inbound Marketing is and how it can help their practice and help them attract more patients.

Inbound Marketing is the practice of attracting patients looking for your specific medical treatment, if your a Plastic Surgeon and your specialty is Rhinoplasty we would develop online contact to attract patients looking for Rhinoplasty.

Traditional "outbound marketing" was largely focused on outbound methods such as cold calls, print ads, attending trade shows, etc. The idea behind these techniques was to get in front of patients and convince them to call your office etc.

This form of marketing is largely a numbers game - you knew you had to, on average, get in contact with a certain large number of people before one of them would be interested to schedule a consult. This method is inefficient and expensive.

Especially today when marketing budgets are tight and Physicians need to see more patients in order to keep their practice growing and not depend on Insurance Companies that are constantly cutting reimbursements, Practices have a growing need for cash paying clients.

Some of the things we do:
  • Medical Website Design
  • Search Engine Optimization
  • Inbound Marketing
  • Content Development
  • Social Media Marketing
  • Branding

How Can I Your Practice Use Inbound Marketing?

The most important part of a successful inbound marketing strategy is creating great content that will attract clients to your practice. Another important element is ensuring that you have a site that is optimize to patients and engages visitors once they "land" on your website.

One of the most popular methods to accomplish this goal is by keeping an updated blog. A blog can provide many benefits for your practice, and almost all of them relate to Inbound Marketing. By creating great content, you'll rise in organic search results, create linkable content, and educate your potential patients.

In addition to blogging, there are many other forms of great content to create that will bring interested visitors. One strategy is developing micro sites for your specific area of  medical expertise one
one example of one of our clients Eric M Joseph, if you search GOOGLE for " Nose Jobs in Livingston NJ" you will see how many "Organic" searches he turns up on. Eric M. Joseph is a very well known plastic surgeon in West Orange New Jersey.

By sticking with these Inbound Marketing strategies, you'll continually bring in new leads and grow in your rankings, however, it won't happen overnight. While Inbound Marketing will save you money, it does take an ample commitment and patience. You won't be the top Google result for desired terms overnight  but by making a long term commitment to inbound marketing you will see results.

In parallel we also develop a Social Media Campaign to help Brand yourself and your practice, If you would be interested in putting together a comprehensive Inbound Marketing campaign please call us at 973-846-0065 or visit our web site at http://www.defedemedia.com

I Rank on the first page of GOOGLE!

ok, Now What?

Ranking on the first page of GOOGLE for your keyword or phrases are great, but what is going to happen when GOOGLE decides to change it's Algorithm? are you going to stake your whole business or practice on that ranking? seems pretty risky to go form the first page of GOOGLE to drop to the 9th or 10th page overnight, think about how that would affect your business or practice. The other arm of the SEO strategy is "Content Marketing" building custom written inbound content that will get indexed in the search engines several different ways so you do not have to be

concerned about an algorithm shift and getting your rankings knocked down. Your SEO consultant should be also developing content and publishing it on a weekly of not daily basis while keeping an eye on your keyword rankings as well. There are several things that we do as a company to rank clients web sites and keep them there:

1) On Page Search Engine Optimization
2) On Page Optimization
3) Content Development

These 3 items are the most important to keep your website ranking higher and to build a stable SEO marketing program, "Long Tail Keywords" are also part of that combination of content development, so make sure your SEO agency is developing and linking content to all the social media outlets as well.

HAPPY RANKING!

Pay Per Click Versus Organic Traffic

This is always a debate, should I do Pay Per Click ( Google Ad Words) or Should I spend my time and energy getting my site to rank organically, well you can do either or and you can also do both. I'm not a big proponent of the Pay Per Click Model, even though I did work on one of the original search engine PPC models, it was called SPRINKS and it was owned by About.com, however it is now rolled into GOOGLE's Ad Words system now. Anyhow, I think you should really strive to rank organically and it may take a bit of time to do that as well, in the meantime if you want to play red light green light with PPC campaigns Try all the search engines Yahoo & Bing both have PPC models each a little different. But for the long haul you will want to rank Organically, how you do it is another story. Large brands that want to make a big splash right away will usually do a big ad spend on a PPC campaign and then after several months after the brand is built up a bit they start to ween off the PPC and kind of let the organic search take over, which is usually a good thing to do, kick it up a notch by adding social media etc. and then you have a nice organic campaign going.

So Where Is Seach Headed?

So from what I am seeing at the moment search is becoming more integrated with Social Media, especially with what G+ is doing I can see on a daily basis that GOOGLE is making small changes towards having their social network and human interaction tied up into search results. I think we will see a day when search terms and phrases will be obsolete and human interaction will rule the SEO world, so what does this mean for current businesses and SEO professionals? it means that we are going to have to help our clients really build and distribute quality content not only on their website but across the whole Social Media spectrum and content will really be KING! but not the way you see it today sprinkled with keywords, it is going to have to actually be a living breathing thing that will draw people to it. I am starting to see the shift and I am working myself on shifting my practices focus, Face book, Twitter, Google+, Tumbler, Blogs are all going to count even more so title tags, meta data will count for less in the next couple of years, the search engines are getting smarter and even inbound linking will not matter any longer, again this is my opinion, what do you think?

Don't Be Afraid of The New Facebook Timeline

So for the last couple of weeks I have been listening to people discuss how they hate the new facebook timeline, well after living with it a couple of weeks and experimenting with it I come to find that its not actually that bad, as a matter of fact there it's going to be allot more robust and less pitch, especially for fan pages. I'm in the process now of migrating current business pages for my clients and its going to take some getting used to but there are allot more features than before, yes I know change always shakes things up but that is what Facebook does. The new layout give you a nice big area for a nice photo that you can change on  daily basis if you want, the tabs now called applications allow you to create basically a full blown website within the facebook platform, so no more do you have to drive people to your website for conversions. It is not a bad change at all. If you have any questions about marketing your business or product on facebook you can reach me at 973-846-0065 www.defedemedia.com

Ethical SEO Versus Un-Ethical SEO

If you have a business website I am sure you have came across a ton of different SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Companies and their prices vary from $150 per mo. to $10,000 per mo. So what is the difference? since SEO is one of those things that you cant see visually and you have to wait weeks or even months to see if a campaign is actually working, as a business owner who do you know who to trust with your SEO efforts and your website indexing? Well I can tell you, most of the places that you see online that promise 5,000 inbound links for $50 per mo. Stay Away! they are using automated software that may eventually get your site banned and de-indexed from GOOGLE. Your better off with 5 good quality inbound links than 50,000 non relevant links. In my practice I also have all sorts of price points and structures depending on the business needs, not a one size fits all. We also mix it up with Social Media and Brand Management. So if you have any questions regarding any of these services please feel free to call me Matt DeFede 973-846-0065 www.defedemedia.com

Why is Social Media Important for Small Business?

Allot of small business owners are still trying to figure out how social media can affect their bottom line, they don't get the concept of an online media that will help they grow their brand or busines or more important the "mind share" of the community in which their business is. So I'll try and explain it, we have all heard about word of mouth right? well think of social media as an electronic form of the "Word of mouth" its that simple. It can also be used as a customer service tool. For example I recently had an issue with Bank of America and after speaking to 3 different customer service reps and after spending a good 3 hours of my time I went online just to blow off some steam and expressed my feelings about the incident on my twitter account (www.twitter.com/matthewdefede) I would say in about 10 minutes I got a reply from Bank of America's twitter team, yes they actually have a twitter team! They were the most helpful and responsive to my issue. That is how some companies can use social media as well to handle customer service issues know how the public feels about their brand or service. Its kind of a two way street where you can not only promote yourself but also get feedback from the public. If your old enough to remember the Tylenol scare back in the 80's and all the damage control Tylenol  had to do, could you imagine if they had the tools of social media today to help the public deal with that whole scenario? It may have actually been very useful for public updates and more. So there is allot more you can do with social Media, from Marketing, Promotion, PR, Customer service and so on. So before your cross social media off your marketing to do list really try it and get help if you need it, big or small i think any company can benefit from its use.

So Whats All The Hype About Pinterest?

So what is all the hype? well first of its visual its viral and its fun! is there a practical business application for Pinterest? who knows, have fun learn how to pin images and re-pin images get followers and just have fun with it! I am sure that after several months when the social media shakeout usually happens there will be some people that continue the using the network. Pinterest is kind of addicting especially for the right side dominate thinkers, it is very easy to run through a bunch of images and just pick the ones that you like, now me being a right Brain thinker and also a marketing person I see tons of use for pinterest from a branding standpoint I was just start making interesting images of your logo and start posting them on Pinterest, that is a start, so while we are all trying to figure out what to start doing on pinterest HAVE FUN!!!!

Yout Tube for marketing

Did you know that You Tube is the second largest search engine in the world? something as simple as a video testimonial a 30 second clip on You Tube could be Small Business Gold, I coach my clients to make sure they have some kind of testimonial from their patients or clients and use it, there is no better way to spread the word about your business or service, its cheap its effective and it can be done fairly easy. Just pick up a Flip Cam or if you have a good video phone like a Droid or iPhone and you can start really driving traffic to your site etc. Here is an example of what was just done for Dr. Mike Scurti of Verona Dental Arts in Verona NJ.

Online Marketing For Small Business

Do you need to market online? It depends, are you in business? do you have a small business with a very tight budget but want to start an online marketing campaign? It does not have to be a very expensive proposition. I consult with many small businesses that not only want but need to start some sort of online marketing campaign, its a must in today's business world, it does not matter if you run a fortune 500 company or a local candy store any business can benefit from having an online presence, from your local Real Estate agent to your neighborhood Doctor. I usually start with my clients web site if they don't have one then I build them one, this could be done on a small budget as well, I have started companies off with an initial investment as low as $500. You can set up a small site with some SEO and then throw a Facebook fan page into the mix, set up a blog ans walla! your on your way. In my opinion using Facebook to build your brand and You Tube to promote videos are a great way to start, you don't need a million dollar web site to start generating interest in your business either, if you have any questions about marketing your business online. I can be reached at 973-864-0065.

Advertising has Changed, Have You?

So I came across this story yesterday on how P&G put the brakes on their 10 Billion Dollar a Year Budget! Yes 10 Billion dollar a year advertising budget when they the CEO realize that GOOGLE & Facebook could do a way better job. So know I am sure all those big agencies are now scrambling trying to figure out how to get their online marketing caps on and try to win back some business. It just goes to show that sometimes large corporations are slow to adapt to change, but when it hits them directly in the pocket book they will change. It makes sense for Proctor & Gamble to adapt a social media marketing strategy all their products are highly visible and meant for the everyday public, if my agency www.defedemedia.com had a 100k budget for a bar of soap can you imagine what we could do with that! we could amazing things really. What can your business do with new media?

Do you have a Social Media Strategy?

You have heard of it, you may even have a fan page or two and a twitter account but what are you supposed to do with them? well maybe this can help, the one thing social media is not is a Sales Pitching Machine! NO NO! Its more like an online cocktail party where you lightly touch on your business but try to engage people, yes you want to engage them and keep the conversation going its kind of like your Customer Relations Management tool on steroids if you think about its. Imagine being "FRIENDS" with all your customers? they would never second guess doing business with anyone else, its like that small little Happy Days town back in the fifties where everyone knew the local doctor and knew where he lived went to church saw him in the local hardware store and so on that is what social media is. I now know so many people that I did not know before because of social media this is hoe you extend your brand your reach your customer based by people knowing who you are, buy engaging them online they become brand loyal without even knowing it. So don't take social media as a waste of time get out there build relationships before business that is what social media is all about!

Will GOOGLE Crush Groupon?

GOOGLE Deals Coming Soon To A City Near You!

A slow roll out of the new GOOGLE Deal A Day site may be an attempt to knock out sites like GROUPON and Living Social, after their failed attempt to acquire GROUPON they decided to launch their own deal making web site and so far the beta looks pretty good!. What does this mean for your business? well for one your not limited to how many people can take advantage of the deal its more of how many people can take advantage of the deal within a certain time frame, these offers will also be good for spas and certain types of cosmetic procedures like botox shots etc. I think it will also give Groupon and Living Social a run for their money, GOOGLE has a vast network of resources and places for then to expand their network I also see it playing out in to the AdWords area where businesses can promote their deal, well once again proving that GOOGLE is taking control of the web to go to the beta deals site go to Check Out The Site Here

Using Long Tail Keywords for Better SEO

Using Long Tail Keywords for Better SEO

Whether your promoting a blog or big brand if you don't have traffic your dead in the water,  They say that content is the best way to drive traffic to your sight and they are right!  Long tail keywords are phrases mad up of several keywords strategically put together to entice search engines to rank for that particular phrase. No its not magic, black hat or anything like that but what it does is really drown out on the non-relative content when know what they are looking for online. For example say you have a store that sells red carpets in Nutley New Jersey. What do you think your long tail keyword would be? right! "RED CARPETS IN NUTLEY NEW JERSEY" see you really pin point what the viewer is looking for the word Carpet is too broad of a phrase so rather then try to grab the ten thousand people searching "Carpet" you actually attract the 5 people searching for "Red Carpets in Nutley NJ" which will actually boost your conversion rates, If you have any questions about using long tail keywords call me at 973-846-0065.

How GOOGLE Social Search Will Change Business

There was a little change GOOGLE implemented about a week or two ago called Social Search, up until then GOOGLE+ was kind of just laying dormant, now I consider it one of the upward rising social network stars! especially for business. If you do not have your self signed up on GOOGLE+ you should do it now! See GOOGLE has now integrated the GOOGLE+ network so the default is to show search returns to you with the people in your GOOGLE+ account ranking higher than organic results, for example if you have a friend who sells blue widgets and he may not be a very close friend but a friend of a friend but hes attached to you via Twitter, Face Book or GOOGLE+, you go searching for blue widgets and his or her information is forced to rank higher in GOOGLE just because your in his or her network, this is HUGE for the business world that is why now I am preaching to my clients about the importance on getting on this network. Can you imagine having clients and customers in your social network and you are always top of mind with them whenever they are searching for something on the web and its relevant to you? THAT'S A GREAT CRM PROGRAM!
If you have any questions about GOOGLE+ you can reach me at 973-846-0065.

Using Press Releases For Search Engine Optimization

One great way to get some GOOGLE juice is to use Press Releases, Have them written in a way where you incorporate keywords into the content of the Press Release, I suggest doing this on a quarterly basis, maybe 3-4 paragraphs of content key word rich and you can use a service like PR web or 24/7 Press Release. They have different levels of service Free and Paid for, in my opinion the paid for Press Release gives you more bang for the buck. Don't forget to add links back to your web site as well no more than two or three links and use about a 2-3% ratio of keywords in your release so the search engines don't consider it spam,

Improve Your GOOGLE ranking with You Tube

Improve your GOOGLE ranking with YOU TUBE! Ill bet you did not know there are things you can do on You Tube to help your web site ranking in GOOGLE! its very simple, if you have video cut it up into 2-3 minute segments then upload it to You Tube, you may have to set up an account first. The most important feature is the "title" and the "tags" use them to focus on specific keywords. You Tube give you also a pretty easy way to add your web address on the video as a title and also make it click able as well. You can also track how many people view your video and if you don't have a video you can make one in you tube out of still images. To see an example of what I did for my client www.OptionsRehab.com go tot GOOGLE and search "Knee Pain In Nutley?" and watch the video that comes up. if you have any questions e-mail me at matt@defedemedia.com.
