Pay Per Click Versus Organic Traffic
This is always a debate, should I do Pay Per Click ( Google Ad Words) or Should I spend my time and energy getting my site to rank organically, well you can do either or and you can also do both. I'm not a big proponent of the Pay Per Click Model, even though I did work on one of the original search engine PPC models, it was called SPRINKS and it was owned by About.com, however it is now rolled into GOOGLE's Ad Words system now. Anyhow, I think you should really strive to rank organically and it may take a bit of time to do that as well, in the meantime if you want to play red light green light with PPC campaigns Try all the search engines Yahoo & Bing both have PPC models each a little different. But for the long haul you will want to rank Organically, how you do it is another story. Large brands that want to make a big splash right away will usually do a big ad spend on a PPC campaign and then after several months after the brand is built up a bit they start to ween off the PPC and kind of let the organic search take over, which is usually a good thing to do, kick it up a notch by adding social media etc. and then you have a nice organic campaign going.

So Where Is Seach Headed?
So from what I am seeing at the moment search is becoming more integrated with Social Media, especially with what G+ is doing I can see on a daily basis that GOOGLE is making small changes towards having their social network and human interaction tied up into search results. I think we will see a day when search terms and phrases will be obsolete and human interaction will rule the SEO world, so what does this mean for current businesses and SEO professionals? it means that we are going to have to help our clients really build and distribute quality content not only on their website but across the whole Social Media spectrum and content will really be KING! but not the way you see it today sprinkled with keywords, it is going to have to actually be a living breathing thing that will draw people to it. I am starting to see the shift and I am working myself on shifting my practices focus, Face book, Twitter, Google+, Tumbler, Blogs are all going to count even more so title tags, meta data will count for less in the next couple of years, the search engines are getting smarter and even inbound linking will not matter any longer, again this is my opinion, what do you think?

Don't Be Afraid of The New Facebook Timeline
So for the last couple of weeks I have been listening to people discuss how they hate the new facebook timeline, well after living with it a couple of weeks and experimenting with it I come to find that its not actually that bad, as a matter of fact there it's going to be allot more robust and less pitch, especially for fan pages. I'm in the process now of migrating current business pages for my clients and its going to take some getting used to but there are allot more features than before, yes I know change always shakes things up but that is what Facebook does. The new layout give you a nice big area for a nice photo that you can change on daily basis if you want, the tabs now called applications allow you to create basically a full blown website within the facebook platform, so no more do you have to drive people to your website for conversions. It is not a bad change at all. If you have any questions about marketing your business or product on facebook you can reach me at 973-846-0065 www.defedemedia.com

Ethical SEO Versus Un-Ethical SEO
If you have a business website I am sure you have came across a ton of different SEO (Search Engine Optimization) Companies and their prices vary from $150 per mo. to $10,000 per mo. So what is the difference? since SEO is one of those things that you cant see visually and you have to wait weeks or even months to see if a campaign is actually working, as a business owner who do you know who to trust with your SEO efforts and your website indexing? Well I can tell you, most of the places that you see online that promise 5,000 inbound links for $50 per mo. Stay Away! they are using automated software that may eventually get your site banned and de-indexed from GOOGLE. Your better off with 5 good quality inbound links than 50,000 non relevant links. In my practice I also have all sorts of price points and structures depending on the business needs, not a one size fits all. We also mix it up with Social Media and Brand Management. So if you have any questions regarding any of these services please feel free to call me Matt DeFede 973-846-0065 www.defedemedia.com

Why is Social Media Important for Small Business?
Allot of small business owners are still trying to figure out how social media can affect their bottom line, they don't get the concept of an online media that will help they grow their brand or busines or more important the "mind share" of the community in which their business is. So I'll try and explain it, we have all heard about word of mouth right? well think of social media as an electronic form of the "Word of mouth" its that simple. It can also be used as a customer service tool. For example I recently had an issue with Bank of America and after speaking to 3 different customer service reps and after spending a good 3 hours of my time I went online just to blow off some steam and expressed my feelings about the incident on my twitter account (www.twitter.com/matthewdefede) I would say in about 10 minutes I got a reply from Bank of America's twitter team, yes they actually have a twitter team! They were the most helpful and responsive to my issue. That is how some companies can use social media as well to handle customer service issues know how the public feels about their brand or service. Its kind of a two way street where you can not only promote yourself but also get feedback from the public. If your old enough to remember the Tylenol scare back in the 80's and all the damage control Tylenol had to do, could you imagine if they had the tools of social media today to help the public deal with that whole scenario? It may have actually been very useful for public updates and more. So there is allot more you can do with social Media, from Marketing, Promotion, PR, Customer service and so on. So before your cross social media off your marketing to do list really try it and get help if you need it, big or small i think any company can benefit from its use.
